I’ve been drawing forever and there are two subjects I find myself often turning to: fashion and sports.
The photographs in magazines like Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar are works of art themselves and I like trying my own interpretation of those fashion shoots.
Drawing athletes in motion is a challenge for me and so I do that to keep improving. If the drawing looks like it’s slightly risen off the page, then I’ve succeeded. I’m much harder on myself for these drawings than others.
I’ve written and illustrated four children’s books based on my childhood: The Sisters, The Sisters’ Christmas Tale, The Sisters and the Cousins, and The Sisters’ Week at the Lake. I also cowrote a novel with Greg Martini called Life or Something Like It at Mallard High. We are donating 50% of the royalties from the novel to Make-A-Wish. In addition I was part of a cookbook called Mangia Mania and all the royalties from this will be given to Make-A-Wish as well.
The best thing about this blog is how it has documented this art journey I think I will always be on.
